Our Approach to Sustainability

Practical Choices
Responsible Hospitality

At Barmotion, we focus on the areas where we can make practical, responsible choices — from how we manage waste and use resources to the products, materials and equipment behind our event hospitality.

Our approach is to make considered choices, measure where we can and keep looking for practical ways to improve.

Practical Changes. Responsible Choices. Ongoing Improvement.

Behind the Bar

How We Operate

Sustainability starts long before we arrive at an event.
We look at the everyday decisions behind our operations — from energy and waste to transport and how we use resources.

Energy

Our office and warehouse use LED lighting, and we monitor energy use as part of our ongoing approach to reducing unnecessary consumption.

Our electricity supply is carbon-free and backed by Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs). We also consider energy efficiency when using, maintaining and replacing equipment.

Waste

We separate and recycle our operational waste and monitor it through our waste management provider. Our provider's reporting confirms that none of the operational waste they collect from us is sent to landfill.

Paper & Single Use

We operate a paper-reduced working environment, keeping documentation and communication digital wherever practical. Within our team, we also encourage reusable solutions to help reduce unnecessary single-use items.

Transport

Our operational vehicles are ULEZ compliant, while our office team makes use of electric vehicles and public transport where practical.

Reduce Reuse Redistribute

Reducing waste isn't only about what goes into the recycling bin.

We maintain and repair our equipment wherever practical, helping to extend its working life rather than replacing it unnecessarily.

When equipment is still usable but no longer suitable for Barmotion's event operations, we look for ways to keep it in use. Depending on the equipment and its condition, this can include donating it or passing it on to organisations that can make use of the equipment or its parts.

We also plan stock and consumables around expected guest numbers and service requirements, helping us manage quantities carefully and minimise unnecessary surplus.

Where suitable surplus stock does remain, either following an event or within our warehouse, we work with our local food redistribution partner to put it to good use within the community.

If something still has a useful life, we'd rather keep it in use.

At Your Event

Responsible Choices, From Bar to Cup

The choices we make when planning and delivering an event can help reduce unnecessary waste.

Across our services, we choose compostable consumables wherever practical, alongside paper straws and recycled-content napkins.

At venues, our teams work with the recycling and waste systems in place, separating materials according to each venue's facilities and requirements.

And we think about the branding too.

Our generic bar branding is printed directly onto durable acrylic panels designed to be used across multiple events rather than reproduced for every setup.

For custom-branded bar setups, our panels are printed on recyclable board and, where suitable, we can retain them following your event so they can be reused at future events.

Custom-branded cups are available in recyclable and compostable options, allowing us to look at the most appropriate choice for your event and its waste facilities.

Branded for your event. Considered beyond it.

Ongoing Improvement

There's Always More We Can Do

Sustainability is an ongoing process.

We'll continue to review the way we operate, the products and materials we use, how we manage waste and resources, and the practical choices available to us as we grow.

We know there is always more that can be done. Our approach is to keep improving, make responsible choices where we can and ensure the commitments we make are ones we can stand behind.

Better Choices. Ongoing Progress.

Responsible Purchasing

Working With People Who Share Our Values

The choices we make extend to the suppliers and partners we work with.

Where possible, we look to work with people who share our approach to responsible business — considering the products and materials they supply, how they are packaged, how long they can remain in use and what happens to them afterwards.

We also look closer to home. From working with our waste provider to responsibly manage operational waste, to partnering with a local food redistribution organisation for suitable surplus stock, the right partnerships help us make better choices across the business.

When purchasing equipment, consumables and event materials, we consider:

  • Durability and reusability
  • Recyclable or compostable alternatives where appropriate
  • Packaging and unnecessary single-use materials
  • Repairing and maintaining rather than automatically replacing
  • Stock planning to minimise surplus
  • Opportunities to redistribute suitable surplus stock

Better choices are easier when you work with people who care about the same things.
